Kings of Leon is a band that needs no introduction. Their song Sex on Fire went around the Earth, thus propelling the American Quartet the status of rock star! Moreover, the album Only By the Night , released in 2008, a clean sweep: 2 Brit Awards (best band and best album) and a Grammy Award (best rock performance). Certainly a success, but that is debatable. Indeed, the group seems to have taken a direction that fans of the first hour does not support, namely that of "stadium fillers. Their 5th album Come Around Sundown mark there a reconciliation with their audience?
Answer: yes and no. This new album, released in late 2010, has really to do with the previous one. Exit tubes as Sex On Fire Use Somebody or Place to securities flatter, less flamboyant. In this album, it is more in the spirit slightly greasy Southern rock, based on the grain of Caleb's exceptional voice, the singer, a recipe that made the success of Kings of Leon for the past 7 years. The costume of rock stars was too big for the Followill siblings born from the depths of Tennessee? ...
careful, do not be fooled! Ok, the combo changed its flight plan, but the titles this new album is not the level of Molly's Chambers, The Bucket or the excellent On Call. The flamboyance of the past that was their strength waned.
Despite this little bit of slack in the musical creation of Kings of Leon, do not spit on Come Around Sundown which still remains an excellent rock album of 2010. The pieces are carried by the Caleb's voice, both powerful and full of sensitivity, combined with a remarkably dynamic bass. So hard to remain indifferent to such songs as The Immortals , Back Down South or Radioactive .
Whether you are big fans of Kings of Leon or lovers Only By the Night and his hits (which will have at least had the merit of them to you ...), treat yourself Come Around Sundown which, if not remarkable at any point, you show a picture of Kings of Leon closer to their debut.
